About Me

Inspiring Creativity Through Visual & Media Arts

Welcome! I’m Dr. Amy Sery, an art educator, artist, and advocate for choice-based learning. For nearly 20 years, I’ve been helping students explore their creativity through Teaching for Artistic Behavior (TAB), the Studio Habits of Mind (SHoM), Media Arts, and emerging technologies like AI.

As a choice-based art teacher, I believe that students thrive when given the freedom to explore, experiment, and develop their own artistic voice. My approach blends traditional art techniques, digital media, and innovative tools, encouraging students to see themselves as true artists and creative problem-solvers.

My Journey in Art Education

I began my teaching career in 2006, and since then, I’ve taught Pre-K through 5th grade, worked with fellow educators in professional development, and explored the evolving role of technology in the art room. Along the way, I earned my Doctorate in Education (EdD) and have presented at national conferences on the intersection of AI and art education.

Through my work, I strive to:
🎨 Foster student-driven creativity with engaging, hands-on experiences.
💡 Empower teachers with resources and strategies for a TAB classroom.
🤖 Explore AI in art education, making technology accessible and inspiring.
